James and Ann McNaul

I enjoy the way these curtains control

the light as it dances on the dust
from your key you left on the mantel.

The illuminations distract me
from reflecting on the fact that you left me.
Glimmers from a glass left half-empty,
but now completely lacking.
Somehow it overflows with memories and shadows.
Where do we go from here?

They that the seasons are changing.
Whoever they are, they seem sincere.
Where do we go from here?
Time is like splash of water.
If unattended, it’ll disappear.
Where do we go from here?

Bang.
Sometimes I dance with shadows and memories.
Sometimes it helps. Other times it deceives.
And sometimes I just leave things be.

I cast a spell with my finger
by drawing in the dust,
a perfect pentagram,
but doubtfully enough
to heal our wounds.
It takes more than voodoo to undo
all of the enchantment and slight of hand
that we have been through,
both trickery and true,
Where do we go?

Bang.
