Love and Sandwiches

Love and Sandwiches by Michael Salamone, from the album, Not Quite Dead Yet

Oh, my love…
My sweet darling:

I would never be the sort of man
To demand you to bring me a sandwich,
because you know where I stand.
Against the patriarchy.

But I’ll always be the sort of man
who will swoon
over you if you do bring me a sandwich.

You can combine bread and cheese
Because you’re thinking of me
No gender rolls from the bakery,
Let’s fill each other up when we’re hungry.

There’s nothing sexist about the food.
Feminists eat sandwiches too.
There’s nothing you have to prove.
I like sandwiches, but I love you.

I like sandwiches, but I love you.
